Whitby residents are invited to Youth Pride Durham on Saturday, June 13, when a free event for 2SLGBTQI+ children, youth, families and allies returns to Durham Region headquarters.

The gathering will take place in the southeast parking lot at 605 Rossland Road East, according to a Region of Durham announcement. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The event is intended to celebrate diversity, help people connect and introduce attendees to supports available across Durham Region. It is hosted by Durham Children’s Aid Society and the Regional Municipality of Durham.

A Resource Village will bring together local organizations and agencies to share information about their programs and services. Attendees will be able to ask questions, learn about available resources and connect with community organizations.

The region also says activities are planned as part of the event.

Food donations will support Durham Alliance Outreach

Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation in support of Durham Alliance Outreach. The region describes the organization as Durham’s only food pantry that prioritizes the needs of 2SLGBTQI+ community members.

The donation effort is part of the event’s support for local food security, alongside its focus on connecting children, youth and families with community services.

Location and parking

Complimentary parking will be available at the headquarters site. Visitors arriving by car are asked to enter from Rossland Road East.

The Town of Whitby is among the event partners. Other partners are the City of Oshawa, City of Pickering, Durham District School Board, Durham Regional Police Service, Municipality of Clarington and Town of Ajax.
